Transport company Dachser has reported its continued expansion in Benelux, with a 13% increase in turnover in 2014 with respect to the previous year.
In 2014, the company reportedly generated a turnover of €200 million - a 13% increase from 2013. The number of employees has also considerably increased within this same period, from 676 to 741. Aat Van Der Meer, Managing Director of Dachser Benelux, attributed this development to several factors.
"We've been able to notice that the economy is recovering and we are seeing an increase in products to be delivered to our customers," said Van Der Meer. "Moreover, we have made considerable investments in Benelux over these past few years and we can now see the positive results from them."
One of the most recent of these investments was the construction of a new building in Willebroek, Belgium. The previous establishment was too full and needed to be extended. A cross docking station of nearly 6,800 m2 and offices of 2,300 m2 were therefore built on a plot of 37,800 m2.
Work on the company's Mouscron subsidiary in Belgium reportedly begun this week. The cross docking building will be expanded by 2,000 m2 and will incorporate 22 additional blocks.
Three years ago, the company made a similar investment at Zevenaar in the Netherlands, where a new cross docking building of 7,200 m2 and an office space of 3,000 m2 were established. The Waddinxveen site, also in the Netherlands, was expanded to 5,000 m2 in 2013.
"All things considered, our capacity has significantly increased," continued Van der Meer. "Not only for road transport and storage, but also for our air and maritime divisions. A new location for the shipment of air cargo from Dachser Belgique was established in the cargo area of Brussels airport and the ocein freight division has moved into the new building at Willebroek. Following the continued growth of our Luxembourg agency, the construction of office spaces is under way."
The logistics service provider also reported good results from investments in the past few years at its Luxembourg subsidiary. The Luxembourg branch is located in Grevenmacher, and is currently comprised oF 800 m2 of office space and 2,600 m2 of cross docking, including 18 docks. Luxembourg's strategic European positioning has allowed for the steady increase in exportation to Germany, Francy, Belgium and the Netherlands.
