The City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg - VdL) has announced the official opening of the "Wanterbësch" ("winter forest") nature-focused initiative for children.

On Thursday 4 December 2025, Lydie Polfer, Mayor of Luxembourg City, Maurice Bauer, Chief Alderman, and Paul Galles, alderman responsible for education, together with the team from the CAPEL educational and leisure activities centre, officially launched the first edition of Wanterbësch. The event, aimed at children aged three and up, is entirely devoted to discovering nature in winter. It will run until Sunday 14 December 2025.

At the opening, the municipal officials congratulated the service for its efforts in organising and setting up an "educational, immersive and welcoming space in the heart of the forest". Located in the immediate vicinity of the Bambësch playground and its new extension, the area invites children to "explore, experiment and be amazed" through a series of activities adapted to the winter season.

Workshops include a puppet theatre, a lunar and shadow magic activity, a reading corner with storytelling and a cabinet of curiosities, as well as a low ropes course with swings to develop motor skills and self-confidence. These playful and educational spaces aim to foster a meaningful connection with nature and stimulate young children's creativity.
