The 9th edition of Luxembourg's Light Leaks Festival of photography will take place from Thursday 15 to Sunday 18 May 2025 at Rotondes in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie, with its vernissage on Thursday 15 May from 18:00 - 21:00.

The Light Leaks Festival 2025, which this year will reach its 9th edition, focuses on the environment in which photography flourishes and explores the interactions between photographers and their community.

Organised by the Luxembourg Streetphoto Collective, the festival will undergo some changes this year due to renovations at its usual venue, the Rotondes cultural centre: for the 2025 edition, the organisers have chosen to focus on the Quartier Gare, a dynamic and multicultural space encompassing Luxembourg's central railway station. Much more than a simple transit point, the Gare district is a space where journeys come to life and end, where destinies intersect, and where hopes and worries collide. For some, it is a home; for others, a place to reconnect with long-lost friends or loved ones. It is a vibrant space, full of emotions and memories. For the Light Leaks Festival 2025, the Luxembourg Streetphoto Collective wishes to highlight this unique and evocative place by capturing its essence through the lens of photographers.

Internationally Renowned Photographers

At the heart of this ninth edition, the festival will feature contributions from four internationally renowned photographers, each bringing a unique perspective to contemporary documentary photography:

• Greg Girard (Canada): Renowned for capturing the social and physical transformation of Asian megacities over three decades, Greg Girard's work establishes a link between the global and the intimate.

• Diana Markosian (Russia/United States, of Armenian descent): An innovator in the field of documentary storytelling, Markosian blends photography and narration to explore identity and memory.

• Éléonore Simon (France): Photographer and teacher, Simon captures the understated beauty of everyday life across continents.

• Markus Jokela (Finland): A storyteller who has documented major world events while maintaining a deep connection to the ordinary aspects of human life.

These photographers will share their insights, highlighting the dynamic of renewal that inhabits contemporary photography, a field where socio-political realities interact with intimate and introspective perspectives.
