On Friday 23 August 2024, the Mayor of Luxembourg City, Lydie Polfer, officially inaugurated the 684th edition of Luxembourg's Schueberfouer.

This year's much-expected Luxembourg funfair has now officially started, in the presence of Serge Wilmes, Luxembourg's Minister of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity and Eric Thill, Minister for Culture, as well as Aldermen Maurice Bauer and Patrick Goldschmidt, amongst other dignitaries.

The group proceeded on a tour of the fairgrounds and rode several traditional amusement rides, such as the Bayern Kurve, the carousel and the Ferris wheel with some even taking on the challenge of the "One Man Show" attraction. At the end of this tour, traditional “Ham a Kuch” (ham and cake) were offered at the Restaurant "Friture Armand".

As the Schueberfouer used to be a large market, which came to include a cattle market, the tradition of sheep bearing the Luxembourg colours in the form of ribbons being paraded around the fairground was once again observed. Lämmy, the Schueberfouer's friendly mascot also followed along hugging visitors and taking photos with children. As a reminder, on Wednesday 4 September, Lämmy and comic book friends will distribute booklets of free passes for rides during the Lämmy & Friends event. Furthermore, on Monday 9 September at 18:00, Lämmy will draw winners to the Fouer game at the main Schueberfouer entrance.

The yearly funfair is a unique blend of tradition, market, games fun-filled amusement rides, games, shopping stands and traditional foods. It is also the number-one gathering place for Luxembourg residents and a summer season highlight – now ready to receive guests of all ages.
