On the occasion of Worldwide Spin in Public Day 2025, the Luxembourgish spinning association WollMillen has announced a public yarn spinning event at the bandstand on the Place d'Armes in Luxembourg City on Saturday 20 September 2025, from 14:00-18:00.

The international event, celebrated annually across the globe, brings together spinners and fibre enthusiasts to demonstrate and preserve the ancient textile art of hand-spinning yarn. This will be the 3rd year WollMillen is joining the movement, this time moving the event from Bascharage to Luxembourg city.

According to the association, participants are invited to bring their spinning wheel or spindle and a chair and join fellow crafters.

Anyone new to spinning will also have the opportunity to learn more about the artisanal wool production. WollMillen was founded to preserve Luxembourg's wool craftsmanship and support local sheep and alpaca owners who often lack processing facilities.

By such events, the association also raises awareness of the cultural and ecological value of wool.

The event is free to attend and open to all interested in crafts, sustainability, and local traditions. No prior registration is required.
