The City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg – VdL) has announced that a "Street Cup" football tournament is set to kick off on Saturday 20 July 2024 at 11:00.
Organised by the Streetwork service of the City of Luxembourg in collaboration with Caritas Jeunes et Familles, Caritas accueil et solidarité, the Luxembourg Red Cross and Inter-actions asbl, the "Street Cup" is a sports meeting place dedicated to respect, social inclusion, cohesion and sharing.
In the spirit of "fair play", the winner of the tournament will not be the team that wins the final, but the team that has shown respectful sporting behaviour towards others: points will be awarded based on verbal and physical behaviour as well as team spirit.
Twelve teams will compete on the multi-sports field in Dommeldange (Rue Marguerite Mongenast-Servais). The teams will be made up of streetworkers, people they met during their tours in the different neighbourhoods and a number of social service employees with whom the Streetwork service works regularly.
Free entry for spectators.
