These open days form part of a large pre-work enhancement and revitalisation programme dedicated to the "Schluechthaus" with the objective of implementing, during a test phase, the ideas and desires collected within the framework of citizen participation on the future use of the site, organised in September 2019.
The Schluechthaus site, with an area of around 2.5 hectares (including green spaces), belongs to the City of Luxembourg. The activity of the former slaughterhouse ceased in 1997 and since then the site has housed the VdL Sports Department, a skate park as well as several storage halls.
The Schluechthaus will be the subject of an architectural competition planned for later this year, with a view to its redevelopment.
