On the 60th anniversary of the flight of Yuri Gagarin - the first man in space - the Euro Space Centre (100km from Luxembourg, in Belgium) will host Russian cosmonaut Sergey Ryazanskiy; on Wednesday 13 October 2021, the cosmonaut will share his experience with students from local and international schools (Amsterdam International School). 

Cosmonaut Sergey Ryazanskiy graduated from the Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University. He was then recruited by the Institute of Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences where he went from graduate student to senior researcher. In 2003, Sergey applied to be a cosmonaut. After two years of study, Sergey passed 150 exams and was selected from the body of cosmonauts named after Yuri Gagarin. It was in 2009 that he took part in his first 105-day space mission, joining the Mars-500 programme to simulate the conditions of a mission to Mars.
 
He made two flights to the International Space Station (ISS), in 2013 and 2017. During his first mission, he carried out a spacewalk with the Olympic Flame and it is this same flame that lit the Sochi Olympic Cup at the opening of the XXII Olympic Winter Games. In total, Sergey will have spent more than 306 days on the ISS, including 27 hours and 35 minutes on spacewalks.
 
In 2018, he decided to hang up his cosmonaut costume. Now Sergey Ryazanskiy is a coach/speaker. During his conferences, he discusses various topics such as leadership, team building, stress management, etc., sharing his multifaceted experience.

Sergey sits as President of the Russian Schoolchildren Movement. The mission of the organisation is to educate the younger generation, to develop children according to their interests and needs, as well as to organise recreation.
 
He is notably the author of three books and two photo albums devoted to the beauty of our planet.
