The Cercle Cité cultural centre in Luxembourg-Ville has announced that it is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

Over the past decade, Cercle Cité events have attracted nearly 670,000 visitors in total. This includes 173,360 visitors to the Bel-Étage du Cercle fairs, 78,840 visitors to the conference centre and auditorium and 417,567 visitors to the Ratskeller exhibition space. These figures represent more than 70 exhibitions (including 23 at CeCiL's Box) featuring nearly 400 national and international artists, and 70 collaborations with the Œuvre Grande Duchesse Charlotte, the New York Times and the Robert Schuman Art Prize, among others.

On the occasion of this special anniversary, Cercle Cité is reflecting on future prospects as well as on its existing connections and relationship with Luxembourg City and its public. As such, the centre has chosen the theme of creative escape and projection for its activities and projects this year.

In September, the CeCiL's Box project, exhibiting directly on Rue du Curé, welcomes the illustrator Lynn Cosyn who, by observing the world of today, expresses the hope (and the need) of humans to get closer to nature, enjoy the moment and appreciate the bright side of life.

For an unprecedented dance video, dancer-choreographers will take over the outdoor spaces of the Cercle Cité, thus opening up the perspective to new horizons and creating a new impetus through their movement.

Again looking at the idea of movement, the graphic designer George(s) aka Christophe Peiffer has created a visual identity which is inspired by the shape of the circle and which lends itself to the animation of the different elements that illustrate diversity as well as the richness and complementarity of multiplicity.

In addition, Lisa Junius created a permanent painting on the doors of the Cercle Cité building, on the side of Rue Genistre. The young artist plunges viewers into her blue, calm and soothing universe.

In collaboration with the Cité Bibliothèque, the Cercle Cité is offering goodie bags for children including a DIY card developed by the artist Keong-A Song, available from 23 October 2021 at the reception of the Ratskeller and the library. A reading is also scheduled for this date.

Moreover, this autumn, the Cercle Cité will present to the Luxembourg public a hundred works from Diane Venet’s private collection of artists’ jewellery.
