The draw for the 2016 Roland Garros was announced on Friday 20 May in Paris; Luxembourg’s Gilles Muller will take on Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis in the first round.
2015 was a great year for both men, with Gilles Muller finishing the year with a ranking of no. 38 and in the best form of his career and Marcos Baghdatis returning to the top 50. They met twice, with Marcos winning both times (on hardcourt in Stockholm and Atlanta). Each will be looking to better his run at Roland Garros this year.
In the 2015 tournament, after an epic battle over two days, Gilles Muller prevailed over Paolo Lorenzi in the 1st round before falling to Novak Djokovic in the 2nd round. Marcos Baghdatis pulled off an upset over 25th ranked Ivo Karlovic before losing to Damir Dzumhur in the 2nd round.
The main draw action starts in Paris on Sunday at 11:00.
