
In the ATP's first event of the year, Gilles Muller played at the Aircel Chennai Open in India where he was seeded 6th in the Men's Singles Championship.
Currently in his 15th year on the professional tennis circuit, the 32 year-old is ranked #38 in the ATP rankings.
In the first round, he defeated wild-card Karen Khachanov (Russia, ranked #152), 6-7, 7-6, 6-2. In the second round he fell to qualifier Thomas Fabbiano (Italy, ranked #157), 4-6, 5-7. While Muller achieved 14 aces in the match, against none by his opponent, he served 5 double faults (against 2).
The final is between top-seed, Switzerland's Stan Wawrinka, and 8th seed Borna Coric from Croatia.
In the Men's Doubles Championship, he was paired with India's Mahesh Bhupathi (ranked #699). They lost their first-round match to top-seeds Raven Klaasen (South Africa) and Rajeev Ram USA), 6-3, 6-7, 10-7.
