Tango has announced that it has closed the first half of the year with a turnover of €61 million.

The turnover is stabilising, mainly as a result of the new roaming regulation and a decline in mobile phone sales. Furthermore, although Tango's total customer base fell to 281,000 customers due to the halt in the sale of anonymous prepaid cards, its subscriber base increased. The average revenue per user (ARPU) stands at €28.20.

Significant figures for the second quarter of 2016

Tango's quarterly turnover stands at €30 million, a slight decrease of 3.7% year-on-year, mainly attributable to a drop in mobile phone sales and the new regulation on roaming charges applied at the end of April.

Yet these results do not detract from the success of the products offered by Tango. Despite a decline in the prepaid customer base following the end of user anonymity, the subscriber base increased by more than 11,000 customers between the second quarter of 2015 and the second quarter of 2016.

The past few months also saw the launch of new Tango Smart products which not only apply the new roaming regulations, and also anticipate the abolition of roaming charges by including roaming everywhere in Europe by default.

Jean-François Willame, Tango Managing Director, stated "The results of the second quarter were marked by the stabilisation trend seen in the first quarter. This year was characterised by numerous changes: changes in the structure of our customer portfolio, changes in regulation with regard to roaming, and changes in the usage behaviour of our customers who are holding onto their smartphones longer. Mindful of these changes, we continued to anticipate the needs of our customers and released a new version of our Tango Smart products, which anticipates the end of roaming charges and includes communications to and from Europe by default. A revolutionary product which has already had a lot of success and should support Tango's competitiveness in the third quarter".
