On Tuesday 6 May 2025, ALEBA, the largest trade union in the Luxembourg financial sector, announced that Orange Communications, a leading telecommunications operator and employer in Luxembourg, had concluded a new collective labour agreement (Convention Collective de Travail – CCT) with the company’s staff delegation and representative trade unions, following several months of negotiations.
The new three-year agreement, focused on strengthening the company’s social model and reinforcing social dialogue, took effect on Thursday 1 May 2025.
The negotiations reportedly resulted in a number of improvements to employee benefits across several areas. In terms of financial benefits, the agreement foresees an increase in the value of meal vouchers in two phases — the first from 1 May 2025 and the second in 2026 — as well as increased compensation for on-call duty and standby weeks.
Regarding leave entitlements, the agreement introduces additional leave days for civil partnerships (PACS), in the event of the death of a child and for caregiver leave. It also provides for one additional paid day off per year for participation in personal development training.
Incentives and benefits in kind have also been enhanced. Employees will benefit from additional discounts on purchased multimedia and connected accessories, higher gift voucher amounts tied to seniority and a referral bonus for those who recommend candidates subsequently hired on a permanent basis. The agreement also includes the integration of company vehicle budgets into the CCT, a salary scale review indexed to base 100 with added bands and alignment of the personal development process with new guidelines applicable across the group.
These changes aim to consolidate existing social provisions while also acknowledging employee engagement and supporting staff in their daily responsibilities.
The new collective agreement also sets out revised procedures for information sharing, consultation and joint decision-making between company management and the staff delegation. Moreover, the agreement led to updates to Orange Communications’ teleworking charter and internal Welcome Book. According to ALEBA, these developments are intended to strengthen internal communication structures and improve staff representation within the company.
