On Wednesday 12 August 2026, Luxembourg swimmers Florian Frippiat and Emma Barthel set new national records on the third day of the 2026 European Aquatics Championships in Paris.
Florian Frippiat improved his own Luxembourg record in the men's 100m butterfly, clocking 53.49 seconds. The result placed him 43rd overall.
Emma Barthel also lowered her own national record in the women's 400m individual medley, finishing in 4:52.24. She placed twelfth overall, falling just under four seconds short of a place in the final. Her performance also secured qualification for the 2027 World Championships.
Luxembourg was also represented by Finn Kemp and João Carneiro in the men's 200m breaststroke. Kemp finished 33rd overall in 2:15.51, while Carneiro placed 40th in 2:20.14. According to the Luxembourg Swimming and Lifesaving Federation (FLNS), Carneiro's result came as a relief following his return from injury. Although he struggled over the final length, the federation noted that the performance showed he was back competing.
Lou Jominet also competed in the women's 200m freestyle, clocking 2:07.65.
Christophe Audot, FLNS National Technical Director and Federal Coach, said: "After Rémi and Ralph's performances in the 100m freestyle, Emma and Florian's performances today prove that the whole group is capable of delivering on the day. We must continue like this and make sure that everyone can have their moment."
