FLNS team at the European Swimming Championships 2021;

On the last day of the European Swimming Championships in Budapest, on Sunday 23 May 2021, Luxembourg's Monique Olivier finished in 13th place in the 400m freestyle, gaining the best result of the FLNS team throughout the championships. 

In the fourth of five heats, the 23-year-old achieved the third fastest time of her career in 4:14.23 minutes and finished 13th out of 43 competitors. 
“After 250 metres my arms started to burn, it really hurt. The time is good, but I have to keep improving,” she said after the race. Her next chance comes at the beginning of June at a British Swimming Meet in Glasgow, and at the end of June at the “Sette Colli” in Rome. With her national record time of 4:11.59 set in March 2020, Monique would have finished in the top 10 in Budapest.

This means that the FLNS team in Budapest has finished the event with a total of three national records: 

- Max Mannes in the 100m backstroke (55.83 secs), 
- Joao Carneiro in the 200m butterfly (2:01.92 mins) and 
- the men's 4x100m freestyle relay (3:21.62 mins) comprising Max Mannes, Raphael Stacchiotti, Ralph Daleiden Ciuferri);

and another six personal bests: 

- Max Mannes 50m backstroke 26.14 / 100m freestyle 50.98 / 200m backstroke 2:04.19; 
- Pit Brandenburger 100m freestyle 50.41; 
- Ralph Daleiden Ciuferri 100m freestyle 50.11 / 200m freestyle 1: 53.71
