Frédéric Tonus, the treasurer and founder of the Luxembourg Sharks Swimming Club, has won five medals at the 18th FINA Masters World Championship held in Gwangju, South Korea.

During the championships, where he was representing Luxembourg, Belgian national Frédéric Tonus secured two gold and three silver medals.

Thanks to his performance, Frédéric Tonus has become the world champion of both the 100m butterfly (having completed the race in 58.75 seconds) and the 200m butterfly (2 minutes 17 seconds) categories in the 45-49 age group. In addition, he secured silver victories in the 50m butterfly (25.89 seconds), 100m freestyle (54.35 seconds) and 200m freestyle (2 minutes 1.97 seconds) categories.
