Luxembourg's Social Security Centre (Centre Commun de la Sécurité Sociale - CCSS) recently published its annual report for 2023.
The CCSS report showed a rise in social security contributions, from €7.4 billion in 2022 to €8.1 billion in 2023 - an increase attributed to wage indexation.
Among its members, the CCSS counted in 2023 499,100 employees, 29,329 self-employed members and 25,948 voluntarily insured members.
Moreover, the CCSS treated 544,559 entry/exit declarations and close to 11.2 million salary declarations in 2023.
In terms of human resources, as of 31 December 2023, the CCSS counted 317 employees (up from 295 at the end of 2022). Administrative costs came to over €62.8 million (up from €47.5 million in 2022).
Highlights in 2023, as cited by the CCSS, included the move to the new Cité de la Sécurité Sociale and the creation of a new visual identity.
The report also presents various projects and strategic objectives (e.g. continued administrative simplification and increased digitalisation), as well as interviews with project managers.
CCSS Chairman Claude Seywert commented: "Simplifying procedures is a priority for us, both to lighten the workload of our employees and to speed up the connection with our customer-users."
The report (in French) is available to download from the CCSS website at https://ccss.public.lu/en/publications/rapports/rapport-annuel-2023.html.
The CCSS is an autonomous public body under the supervision of Luxembourg's Ministry of Health and Social Security and the responsibility of a Board of Directors. Its main tasks are to register insured persons and organise computerisation on behalf of the various social security institutions.
