According to the latest Special Eurobarometer survey, the two main concerns at national level for respondents in Luxembourg were rising prices / inflation / cost of living (55%) and housing (51%), both above the European Union (EU) averages of 54% and 6%, respectively.

Rising prices / cost of living / inflation is the most important issue at the overall EU level (most mentioned issue in 26 EU Member States, except Sweden) whilst housing ranks twelfth at overall EU level, but second most imporant national issue in Luxembourg (51%) and Ireland (48%).

The third most important national issue for 18% of Luxembourg respondents were energy supply (second in the EU) and the environment and climate change (fourth in the EU).

Respondents in Luxembourg consider the national economic situation to be significantly better than the European average. 85% consider the national economy to be “good”, against 34% on average in the EU. The financial and professional situation of the people questioned is also judged to be good by a large majority (92% and 85% in Luxembourg respectively, compared to 70% and 61% in the EU). 44% of residents in Luxembourg expect the economic situation in Luxembourg to remain the same in the next twelve months. 40% fear a deterioration in the country's economic situation and 11% even expect an improvement.

Compared to the results of winter 2021-2022, the confidence of Luxembourg residents in the EU has increased by 17% with 60% of respondents tend to trust the EU, compared to 32% who do not trust the EU – a 21% drop from winter survey. Along the same line, 60% of residents have a positive or rather positive image of the EU, an increase of 16%.

With regard to European policies, 88% support a common defence and security policy, 89% are in favour of a common energy policy and 54% are in favour of further enlargement of the EU to other countries in the coming years – an increase of 17% compared to the last Standard Eurobarometer. In addition, 62% of respondents in Luxembourg are satisfied with the EU's response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The Standard Eurobarometer 97 was conducted as a joint survey by the European Commission and the European Parliament through face-to-face interviews between 17 June and 17 July 2022 in the 27 EU Member States. A total of 26,468 interviews were conducted in the EU27 Member States of which, 506 interviews were conducted in Luxembourg between 21 June and 14 July 2022.
