Luxembourg's Ministry of Social Security, together with the Joint Social Security Centre, has confirmed that the latter has published its 3rd annual report which summarises its activities for 2020.

The report details its organisation, its various missions and main activities, as well as the corresponding key figures. These figures are put into a multi-year perspective to reflect the continuity in which the CCSS exercises its profession.

Thus the contributions calculated and invoiced by the CCSS in 2020 amount to €6.402 billion, which constitutes a slight increase of 4.51% compared to 2019. In addition, 454,844 entry and exit declarations were managed by the CCSS as well as 10,153,905 salary statements resulting in 91,267 monthly invoices, issued and sent to employers, self-employed people and those voluntary insured. In 2020, a total of 460,716 employees, 27,522 self-employed and 18,610 voluntary insured people were affiliated to the CCSS. 7,701 files were in forced recovery which corresponds to a decrease of 8.2% compared to the previous year and is to be explained by the elimination of the procedure for forced recovery, from the start of the crisis until November 2020.

In addition, the Joint Social Security Centre was able to overcome the challenges of the health crisis. After the closure of its counters during the state of crisis and thanks to the digitisation projects in progress, the CCSS was immediately able to switch to a digital working mode favouring remote work, in order to be able to guarantee the accomplishment of daily tasks without interruption. A multitude of works were carried out in relation to the state of crisis both in terms of cash benefits and social contributions - the complete cessation of the calculation of default interest on unpaid social contributions, assistance with the settlement partial unemployment, and the establishment of a procedure to advance leave for family reasons, to name but a few.
