On Saturday 6 June 2026, Rugby Club Luxembourg (RCL) Lightning's Senior Mixed Touch team won the Plate competition at the final round of the Belgian Touch Rugby Championship in Brussels, securing the club's best result in the category in five years.
According to Touch Luxembourg, RCL Lightning progressed to the Plate Final after defeating Boitsfort Rugby Club 8-5 in the semi-finals. The Luxembourg side then completed its successful campaign with an 8-6 victory over Oudenaarde in the final to claim the title.
The tournament formed part of the final stage of the Belgian Touch Rugby Championship, hosted at the Kituro Sports Complex in Schaerbeek. Teams competed in a series of classification matches and knockout fixtures to determine the final standings for the season.
Touch Luxembourg described the result as the team's strongest performance of the past five seasons, highlighting the commitment, progress and collective spirit demonstrated throughout the campaign.
Looking ahead, the club has set its sights on breaking into the championship's top four and challenging for the highest positions in the Belgian competitive league during the 2026/27 season.
