The Union Luxembourgeoise de Patinage de Vitesse has witnessed success for its members in last week’s Benelux Cup which took place for the second year in Kockelscheuer.
Coming in first place in the 500m and 1000m, Peter Murphy overtook Augustin Géré at the event. In fact, out of the 90 skaters registered to take part in the competition, all between five and fifty years old, almost 25 were Luxembourgers.
Peter Murphy used the occasion to qualify for the Mondiaux juniors scheduled for the end of January, and the European Youth Olympic Festival in February.
The 500m and 1000m winner stated: “I am very happy. There’s some real competition within our training group and that helps us make progress.”
Grégory Durand, who has been the national trainer for three months, congratulated the Luxembourgish skaters’ progress.
