The British Embassy in Luxembourg recently hosted a special screening of Paddington in Peru for children from the Luxembourg Red Cross' Centre d'Accueil Norbert Ensch, Kannerschlass and the Ukrainian Saturday School "Mriya".

In a statement, the embassy said it invited the young guests to share in Paddington's latest adventure celebrating kindness, friendship and exploration during the school Carnival holiday period.

The screening received support from the Great Britain & Northern Ireland Campaign, the UK's international communications programme.

British Ambassador to Luxembourg, Fleur Thomas, welcomed the children and is reported to have highlighted the universal message of Paddington's story: that kindness, politeness and an open heart can make the world a better place.

Special guest, Paddington, made an appearance, much to the delight of the young audience.

Paddington in Peru is the latest instalment in the popular Paddington film series, featuring UK talent both behind and in front of the camera. The film is based on the character created by British author Michael Bond and was partially filmed in the UK.

The British Embassy added that few characters in children's literature have had the same lasting impact as Paddington. First introduced in the late 1950s, the bear
from Peru has captured the imagination of readers and cinemagoers across generations. Paddington in Peru continues this legacy with a cast that includes Academy Award winner, Olivia Colman, Academy Award nominee and BAFTA winner, Julie Walters, Academy Award and BAFTA winner, Jim Broadbent, and BAFTA winner, Imelda Staunton, among many others.
