Luxembourg and Poland yesterday signed a cooperation agreement in the area of space relations at a conference held at the Luxembourg Embassy in Warsaw.

Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy, Etienne Schneider, and Poland's Minister of Development, Jadwiga Emilewicz, participated in the second Luxembourg-Polish economic conference. Under the theme "Luxembourg-Poland Partnership In SpaceBusiness", the event brought together more than 100 representatives and experts from the public service, the business community and especially the space industry from both countries.

In their speeches, the ministers insisted on the exchange between the Luxembourg and Polish space industry as well as on the scientific and commercial partnerships resulting from the Memorandum of Understanding that was signed in September 2018 between the two countries.

In addition, Thursday's conference saw the Luxembourg-Poland Chamber of Commerce (LPCC) and the Polish-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce (PLIG), co-organisers of the event, sign a cooperation agreement.

Subsequently, in a bilateral meeting held at the Polish Ministry of Development, Ministers Schneider and Emilewicz agreed on enhanced cooperation in the field of space activities and discussed funding opportunities for start-ups in their respective countries. The meeting also addressed the identification of common objectives of the Polish and Luxembourg space agencies with the aim of more intense cooperation.

The two ministers also stressed the need for dialogue at the "Friends of Industry" level with the new European Commission in Brussels to defend national economic interests while pursuing the ambitious climate policy objectives in the framework of the European Green Deal.
