On Monday 1 June 2026, Lidl Luxembourg launched a six-week promotional campaign at ten Luxembourg stores equipped with charging stations, offering a 25% discount on electric vehicle (EV) charging.
Running until Sunday 12 July 2026, the discount is available through the Lidl Plus application and applies to both standard (AC) and fast (DC) charging stations. According to Lidl, the initiative aims to make electric mobility more affordable at a time when the number of EVs on Luxembourg's roads continues to grow.
Under the promotional offer, the price of standard charging (up to 11 kW) will decrease from €0.45 per kWh to €0.34 per kWh, while fast charging (up to 180 kW) will fall from €0.55 per kWh to €0.41 per kWh.
Lidl noted that its charging network uses 100% green electricity generated by solar panels installed on the roofs of its stores. The retailer has invested in a network of charging stations for EVs and plug-in hybrids located throughout Luxembourg.
According to Lidl, customers using its latest 180 kW fast chargers can recover approximately 100 kilometres of driving range in around seven minutes.
The discounted rates are available exclusively to customers who pay via the Lidl Plus application, which is linked to Lidl Pay. Users must activate a coupon in the app to benefit from the offer. Lidl added that it does not charge subscription fees, activation fees or impose limits on charging duration or electricity consumption.
The retailer estimated that drivers charging an average family vehicle with a 60 kWh battery at a fast charger could save more than €8.40 per charging session during the promotional period. It added that a customer travelling around 300 kilometres per week and charging weekly at Lidl could save approximately €50 by mid-July.
Michiel Verhalle, Head of Energy Management at Lidl, commented: "The energy transition must not become a privilege reserved for those who have a private driveway with solar panels. At a time when the market is being flooded with electric vehicles, we want to demonstrate that sustainable charging can go hand in hand with low prices. By offering a particularly attractive tariff for six weeks, we are lowering the barrier to entry for everyone."
