As part of its fifteen year anniversary celebrations, Luxembourg fashion brand vol(t)age opened the doors of its boutique and workshop on Thursday 21 May 2026, to welcome guests for a late evening shopping event.
Earlier in May, the brand marked its anniversary with a runway presentation and the launch of a new collection, where founders Claudie Grisius and Stéphanie Grisius presented their latest collection with a runway performance at Ciné Utopia in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg, which combined fashion, film and storytelling.
This was then followed by the THIRSTDAY shopping event at vol(t)age’s premises in Luxembourg-Gare, where it celebrated with loyal customers and showcased the new designs from its in-house workshop.
Chronicle.lu was invited to the event for a tour of the brand’s facilities and to discuss the owner’s journey from start-up to retail success across its fifteen year journey.
Founded in 2011, vol(t)age was originally based in Luxembourg-Ville before moving to premises near Place de Paris in Luxembourg-Gare. Originally known for its reversible silk and velvet “v-necks”, the brand later expanded into shirts, combining tailoring with printed words, symbols and messages, and establishing an online presence in the process.
Speaking to Chronicle.lu, Claudie Grisius described the brand’s progression from its start-up roots to achieving fifteen years of success in Luxembourg’s retail and fashion sector.
“There was already an eclectic kind of vibe and we always wanted to make pieces to accessorise existing wardrobes and existing looks and to electrify them. We wanted to add the spark to people’s existing wardrobes. That was the first idea. We started off with a scarf, with a v-neck and then we gave them names which became statements and slogans. People asked us to print them on shirts because they were seen as cool. More and more we became aware of the fact that what we were actually doing was ‘wardrobe therapy’,” said Claudie Grisius.
She added: “Other people then gave us stories about how they felt. And we thought, okay, we are wardrobe therapy. So, when you go into that direction, you adapt your slogans, become more positive; empowering. And the latest collection is one where we are creating ‘Cognitive Chic’, where we invite people to change their thinking. You play with words; you play with energy. Basically, we love to play, but in a constructive way. So that is the idea behind it.”
When asked about surviving for fifteen years in the retail business, Claudie Grisius remarked that the combination of determination and supportive clientele had helped vol(t)age through “complicated times”.
To maintain the brand’s momentum, Stéphanie Grisius will now join the business full time, utilising her skills in the store’s workshop; allowing the business to expand into offering bespoke tailoring options of its designs and more.
Reflecting on her move from a career in law fifteen years ago to setting up a fashion brand, Claudie Grisius acknowledged that decisions were not always perfect but lessons were learned and these helped the business to grow into what it is today.
When asked what she would have changed, Claudie Grisius reflected: “We should have started with our printing machines earlier because it is so much easier not to hold stock. You know, to be more sustainable from the outset…but I guess the timing was not right. Everything happens for a reason…you learn by doing.”
When asked what the future holds for the business, Claudie Grisius revealed: “We will have more couture pieces where we will sew on demand, with new patterns in the form of dresses and pants. You can get them for your specific size, so a real bespoke level of service.”
The brand has also begun offering more sustainable materials for some of its products, including hemp sourced locally as a by-product of CBD production.
Drawing on her fifteen years of building vol(t)age, Claudie Grisius embodied the brand’s mindful ethos and stated: “One step after another, one step at a time. Just stay positive.”
