On Tuesday 27 August 2024, the Commercial Union of the Ville de Luxembourg presented detailed information on this year’s Luxembourg City Braderie, set to take place on Monday 2 September 2024.

The press conference took place at the Namur café and bakery in Luxembourg-Gare, in the presence of Lydie Polfer, Mayor of the City of Luxembourg, Mireille Rahmé-Bley, President of the Commercial Union of the Ville de Luxembourg (UCVL), Patrick Goldschmidt, Alderman of the City of Luxembourg, and Anne Darin, Director of the UCVL.

The 95th edition of the Braderie will take place in the upper town district and the Gare district, aiming to present the city’s shops while helping customers make “good deals” ahead of the school start. Mireille Rahmé-Bley added that more than 204 retailers will be present for the event over 1300m stands, excluding cafés and restaurants.

The Braderie on Monday will be preceded by offers on Saturday 31 August and a flea market on Sunday 1 September, from 10:00 to 17:00 in Luxembourg-Gare. The list of shops open on Sunday 1 September is available at www.cityshopping.lu.

On the day of the Braderie itself, 2 September, a Wheel of Fortune game contest will take place at the kiosk at Place d’Armes, with over €7000 worth of gifts offered by the city’s retailers. Visitors can attempt to win one of the 336 reusable mugs “Cup2Go” offered by the City of Luxembourg.

In Luxembourg-Gare, the Place de Paris will host several attractions from 10:00 to 18:00 (particularly for children, but not only). Ludoland will have building games, wood games and more on offer; there will be Lego workshops organised by Bricks4kidz and an art workshop by the Asbl I Love Graffiti with artist Thomas Iser.

Music will also be provided by the retro marching band “Ça gaze” (it’s going great) from 09:00 to 11:00 in Luxembourg-Gare and from 14:30 to 16:00 in the Upper City, while a DJ will animate the entire Gare district from 11:00 to 19:00.

Alderman Goldschmidt discussed mobility for the event, emphasising that accessibility will be guaranteed. It is advised that visitors use public transport or the P+R car parks available if coming by car. He added that the car parks “Place de l’Europe” in Luxembourg-Kirchberg and “Fort Wedell” in Luxembourg-Gare will be free on the day of the Braderie, Monday 2 September, while the “Fort Neipperg” car park will offer two hours’ free parking on Sunday 1 and Monday 2 September. The tram will run as usual.
