On Saturday 10 June 2023, Arnold Kontz Group inaugurated its brand new Arnold Kontz Cycles store at 182 route de Thionville in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie.
After the opening in 2020 of a new cycle store at Luxembourg-Gare (on rue de Strasbourg) - which has since been a great success, according to the group - the opening of this second store allows Arnold Kontz to expand its offer of bicycles, accessories, specialised clothing and scooters even more.
The premises covers 2,000 m2 and is newly fitted out and dedicated to two-wheelers. Those interested can discover all the latest in racing bikes, mountain bikes, pedelecs, city bikes, cargo bikes, gravel bikes, children's bikes and BMX in an exceptional building. Nearly 2,000 bikes are in stock and available immediately.
Arnold Kontz has been active in Luxembourg since 1917, and stocks the biggest brands of bicycles and accessories, some exclusively in Luxembourg. Over these 106 years, Cycles Arnold Kontz is not only the oldest bicycle shop in Luxembourg, but is also one of the historic businesses of Luxembourg city.
Saturday's inauguration included aperitif, a DJ and a special show by Viki Gomez, multiple World Champion and European Champion on BMX, followed by an autograph session
Maintenance workshops
The development of a large maintenance and repair workshop for bicycles makes it possible to deliver a fast and qualitative service, while making it possible to accommodate after-sales also bicycles of brands other than those officially represented, meeting growing demand in the region. Repairs to Peugeot scooters and now also to BSA motorcycles are now also carried out on this site in a brand new specialised workshop.
Strategic path
In 2016, the Kontz family decided on a strategic path to further develop its cycle business at a crucial time when mobility concepts are changing rapidly and when soft mobility is taking an increasing place.
Benji Kontz – Managing Director of the Arnold Kontz group, stated: "I am particularly proud of this opening of our second cycle store in the space of only 3 years, allowing us to consolidate today what my great-grandfather started in 1917 and what four Kontz generations have developed since. This investment once again demonstrates our great attachment to cycling and soft mobility at a key moment, when mobility concepts are changing rapidly. With around 15 dedicated employees and nearly 2,000 stock bikes immediately available, our goal is to facilitate access to two-wheelers for everyone, from the regular user to the professional, including racing bike enthusiasts, mountain bikes, pedelecs, BMX, cargo bikes, not to mention children's bikes".
