Luxembourg supermarket chain Cactus has announced the launch of a new initiative to support the protection of dragonfly habitats.

By purchasing the solidarity product "Bio Naturbrout" (organic bread), Cactus customers now have the opportunity to support the preservation of the habitats of the emperor dragonfly, one of the largest species of dragonflies in Europe. Since the launch of this organic bread in 2010, Cactus has already donated €161,062 to natur&ëmwelt Fondation Hëllef fir d’Natur in order to support environmental protection projects.

Through the sale of solidarity products, Cactus aims to facilitate the philanthropic actions of its customers. Consequently, for every "Bio Naturbrout" sold, the brand donates 10 cents to the natur&ëmwelt foundation. The money raised will allow the acquisition and management of nature reserves rich in ponds, which will be able to accommodate the emperor dragonfly. This initiative is part of the continuation of the “Cactus Weier & Dëmpel” project, initiated by Cactus and carried out by natur&ëmwelt, where the brand financed the development of a 1500 m² pond in Mensdorf.

“Bio Naturbrout” is a product of the “Zesumme fir eis Bio-Baueren” sector, set up by Cactus to enhance and promote local organic farming. From the cultivation of organic cereals to processing into artisan breads, "Bio Natrubrout" is a 100% local product.
