In its efforts to promote local production and job creation in the region, the Cactus supermarket chain is now selling face masks of 100% Luxembourg origin.

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, wearing a mask has become compulsory in closed public places and anywhere where a minimum distance of two metres between people who do not belong to the same household cannot be guaranteed. Two mask options exist: multiple-use fabric masks or single-use surgical masks. The latter are often criticised for their negative effects on the environment.

Cactus has just started marketing the first 100% made in Luxembourg protective masks, manufactured by Santé Services, a sister company of Hôpitaux Robert Schuman. Local production reduces CO2 emissions as well as procurement time to a minimum, thus allowing better responsiveness and flexibility when needed.

For mass distribution, the masks are available exclusively in Cactus stores.
