Luxembourg supermarket Cactus has unveiled its completely renovated Howald store.

After 17 months of renovation work, the Howald Cactus is now ready to welcome customers to a completely redesigned and modernised store. The store’s redeveloped infrastructure includes new features such as a Schnékert Traiteur catering area, a vinotheque, a bio corner and a meat maturing cabinet.

Since January 2017, customers were able to shop at a temporary supermarket in the Cactus Howald underground car park. Meanwhile, the old infrastructure, which opened in March 1989, has undergone extensive restoration work. The ambitious project today came to an end with the reopening of the store.

From the outside, the supermarket now has a covered walkway that leads from the access of the underground car park until the store. Inside, the establishment has been completely restructured to better meet consumer needs. On an area of 3,650 m2 – instead of 2,600 m2 in the former supermarket - customers can now walk in wider aisles and discover a wide assortment of some 2,200 organic products, 2,850 Luxembourg products and more than 350 homemade Cactus specialties including a range of fine pastries. The traditional fish, butcher, bakery and cheese counters have been enlarged and relocated inside the supermarket.

Meanwhile, the "Drive-in-Recycling" centre, inaugurated in 2011 and managed by SuperDreckskëscht, will maintain its location in the underground car park and a Point Post has been incorporated in the reception of the supermarket,

The refurbished store is open from Monday to Thursday from 08:00-20:00, Friday from 08:00-21:00, Saturday from 08:00-20:00 and Sunday from 08:00-13:00. More than 600 parking spaces, including around 300 covered parking spaces, are available to customers, whilst a footbridge connects the supermarket car park directly to the new Howald railway station.

As tradition dictates, a small cactus was available to all customers on the opening day and until 3 June, customers can enjoy a 10% discount on purchases.
