The new "expat shot" Home from Home on Route d'Arlon is to open its doors this Saturday 21 October at 09:00, with the official opening scheduled for the following Saturday.
With the 100m2 retail space completely renovated, the shelving erected and the aisles created, and the floor-to-ceiling freezers installed, the space took on the look-and-feel of a shop, particularly when the first stock was placed on the shelves. The checkout counter and till system have been installed and the decals have been put up on the windows. With their first delivery of perishable goods arriving tomorrow (Friday), it will be just in time for Saturday morning's opening.
While the freezers will not be stocked until next week, everything else will be ready, with fresh meats (sausages, bacon, gammon steaks, etc.) and dairy produce (butter, cheese, etc.) ready for their first customers.
John Heffernan talked with Chronicle.lu today and said "We're really looking forward to opening on Saturday. It's been a long journey but we're now ready". Business partner Mark Hollis said "We're providing a service that's currently missing, in an accessible location. We're catering for all nationalities offering a "Home from Home" to anyone who's missing something, from biscuits and cereals to meats, dairy and drinks"
Home from Home will cater for British, Irish, American, Australian and South African, etc., produce. They will also have a gluten-free counter with a range of products open from this Saturday.
