Ceramics manufacturer Villeroy & Boch today revealed their new collection of floral decorations, inspired by summer nature.
The new set is said to have been developed from the recent venture of fashion designers to literally 'take it outside'. These designers have been choosing the great outdoors as a backdrop for their collections, with the label Stella McCartney showcasing their creations at a garden party in mid-Manhattan, and Nicolas Ghesquière having Louis Vuitton models do the catwalk around a pool in palm Springs.
Villeroy & Boch have therefore decided to serve summer on a plate, modelling their recent collection on Alexander von Humboldt's journey to the Amazon, and the tropical plants, passionflowers and orchids which bloom there. The floral motifs and colourful animals that appear on the Premium Bone china plates are expected to bring a bright contrast to the grey of the big city.
The collection also includes Artesano Provançal floral decor, designed by Belgian artist Isabelle Borchgrave to represent the lavender and geraniums fragrances of Provence. The new Ultimate BBQ series, which won the international product design prize the Red Dot Award, is also available to those seeking a light, white porcelain style for eating outdoors.
The Gift Collection Classic will feature cups of different sizes and an ashtray decorated with Amazonian floral motifs which appear handpainted. The English countryside has also been evoked through the Rose Cottage gift collection, which includes pastry forks, teapots and a mini stand adorned with Tea Time Renaissance roses.
