Luxembourg House, a project initiated by the Ministère de l’Economie, had its official opening yesterday afternoon on Rue de l’Eau in the City.
After a year of project development the idea had flourished and now finally came to fruition. For the first time, the citizens of Luxembourg will be offered a specialised shop exhibiting exclusive Made in Luxembourg products, all of which have been manufactured, produced or designed in the Grand Duchy. The secrétaire d’Etat à l’Economie, Francine Closener, declared that the Luxembourg House is a complementary addition that the city centre has to offer, stating "Offering exclusively products manufactured, made or designed in the Grand Duchy, the "Luxembourg House" complements the existing commercial offer in the city centre and constitutes a new attraction. Promoting the best of Luxembourg as regards the broad range of products offered, the shop is targeted not only at tourists, but also at the resident population."
A wide range of national products are spread over a surface area of 85 m2, against a backdrop of dynamic decoration representing the blue lines from the coat of arms of the Luxembourg flag. Home fragrances of blended ginger and spices from Smell Marketing offer an inviting welcome for customers.
Located close to the Palais grand-ducal, the shop offers a variety of wine and cremants, local products (such as fine patisserie, beer, eau de vie, and liquor), as well as showcasing traditional and creative products (paintings by the artist Jacques Schneider). The interior design has been established by Moreno Architecture and Associés, and there is a limited edition elephant statue inspired by the Elephant Parade exhibition which was displayed in various parts of the city 2 years ago.
Promoting the best of Luxembourg in artisanal products, the shop is targeting not only tourists, but also local residents.
As of 19 June 2015, the shop’s suppliers are: Domaines Vinsmoselle; Bernard Massard; Domaine Mathis; Domaines Kox; Domaines Schumacher; Domaines Duhr; Distillerie Zenner; Brasserie Simon; Distillerie Clausel; Becolux (cider); Oberweis; Namur; Kaempff-Kohler; Moutarderie du Luxembourg; Bléi vum Séi; Luxair; Villeroy & Boch; RAK Porcelain; Diversity; Zakka.
