On Saturday 10 January 2026, Rugby Club Luxembourg hosted a day dedicated to the development of women’s rugby at Stade Boy Konen in Luxembourg-Cessange.

The event brought together nearly 30 young players, including eighteen pupils from the private Collège and Lycée Saint-Pierre Chanel (TYGRE Féminin Rugby, Thionville) in the Moselle department and thirteen players from the RCL Girlz team.

According to the organisers, the main objective of the day was to promote the values of women’s rugby and youth development; despite the challenging conditions, the players showed strong commitment, determination and dedication, fully reflecting the sport’s core values of courage, solidarity and self-improvement.

Despite the challenging weather conditions, including snow, cold temperatures and strong winds, the participants first took part in a small tournament using simplified rules on reduced-size pitches before moving on to matches on half a pitch with three mixed teams.

The day concluded with a short full-pitch match, played fourteen-a-side under full rules, giving all players the opportunity to experience the game on a regulation-sized field.

“There was a lot of discussion about the weather in the run-up to the day, but rugby girls are tough and they absolutely loved playing in the snow,” stated Giulia Iannucci, President of Rugby Club Luxembourg.
