Earthbound Collective asbl, a non-profit organisation supporting the metal, hardcore and punk music scene in Luxembourg, held its very first event over the weekend.
The non-profit, founded in 2020, organised its first concert at Mix'n'Kawa Bar in Esch-Belval on Satuday 18 December 2021. This was the occasion for Earthbound Collective asbl to present its members and bands to the public.
The aim of the non-profit is to serve as a central platform for information on metal, hardcore and punk bands in the Grand Duchy. To achieve this, it has made a list of bands of these genres which are active on Luxembourg's music scene, as well as producing written and livestreamed interviews and publishing a newsletter grouping together news relating to this scene and information about events, podcasts and radio broadcasts.
On Saturday, Fabien Hornick, Ben Wilmes, Kevin Gricius and Mike Bertemes played with their bands Legacy of Atlas, Kraton and Sublind, presenting the diversity of these music genres to their audience.
The evening opened with the solo projects "No Ostriches" of Milian Steffen and "Lunar Aeon" of Ben Wilmes, both of whom presented their creations live for the first time.
Kraton then took the audience to a darker corner of the metal genre by performing raw and vibrant death metal. Singer Mike Bertemes expressed suffering and rage over certain hopeless and cold aspects of human existence.
Legacy of Atlas presented its metalcore alternative sound, with vocals switching between scream, clean and rap paired with groovy riffs. The band played live their new song "Interstellar", which was released as a video clip that same day.
Finally, Sublind took the stage after a two and a half years of playing no concerts. During this pause, the thrash metal band created new songs which had never been performed live (until Saturday) due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was also the band's first concert with their new drummer.
The event continued into the early hours at Mix'n'Kawa Bar.
