The Luxembourg National Research Fund (Fonds National de la Recherche - FNR) has announced a new support measure for researchers who have fled the war in Ukraine.
Earlier this month, the FNR joined other European Research organisations within the Science Europe association in condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine and expressing solidarity with the people of Ukraine as well as with Russian scientists and science journalists who have openly spoken out against the invasion.
Now, the FNR has introduced a new temporary support measure for Ukrainian researchers, who may be employed within Luxembourg public research institutions in ongoing FNR projects for a maximum of six months based on requests for additional funding. The FNR has earmarked a total of €1 million for these grants.
This measure is an add-on to ongoing approved projects in the following FNR funding schemes: CORE, INTER, OPEN, ATTRACT, PEARL, BRIDGES, PRIDE and IPBG.
This new support measure is aimed at displaced researchers, including technical personnel, benefiting from the temporary protection status applied at the European Union (EU) level for people who have fled the war in Ukraine.
There are a maximum of one full-time or two half-time positions available per FNR project for a maximum duration of six months. The FNR will cover salary costs for up to six months as well as providing a lump sum for travel costs.
Proposals must be submitted via email to Josiane Staus (FNR): josiane.staus@fnr.lu.
