Luxembourg's Ministry of Equality between Women and Men has announced the launch of the "Women in Research" campaign.

On Friday 11 February 2022, the Equality Ministry celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science at the Luxembourg Science Center in Differdange with the launch of the awareness campaign "Women and Girls in Research", led by Research Luxembourg and supported by the ministry.

The campaign aims to encourage girls and women to engage in research and science with a view to ensuring a diverse and inclusive approach. In order to break the stereotypes connected to the scientific and technical professions, a series of video testimonials has been carried out to highlight the diversity of the institutions of Research Luxembourg (Luxembourg Institute of Health - LIH, Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research - LISER, Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology - LIST, University of Luxembourg, Luxinnovation and Luxembourg National Research Fund - FNR).

Luxembourg's Minister of Equality between Women and Men, Taina Boffding, explained: "It is obvious that stereotypes can negatively influence personal and professional choices of each and every one. The scientific field does not escape: the statistics clearly show that there are great differences between the percentages of women and men in the scientific professions. This is why it is imminent to fight against these prejudices and to encourage most of the girls, from an early age, to take an interest in science. Science does not know limits and that makes it so exciting!"

Testimonial videos will be published on the FNR website (www.fnr.lu) as well as on the social networks of the FNR and the Equality Ministry.
