The Luxembourg Christian Meditation Group of the World Community for Christian Meditation (WCCM) has announced an upcoming Advent Weekend Retreat.
The Christian Meditation group, co-led by Marcella Mc Carthy and Kay Connacher, is organising an Advent retreat from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 December 2025 in the 12th century former Cistercian monastery of St Thomas in the German Eifel, just over an hour's drive from Luxembourg City.
Today, St Thomas is the retreat house of the Diocese of Trier and thus, according to the organisers, "a place of spiritual deepening and radiance", where priests, deacons, religious, lay people working in pastoral care and charitable services and various groups come together for further training courses and retreats "in the soothing silence" of the Kyll Valley.
The retreat is open to both experienced meditators and those new to the practice.
The theme of this retreat is "Silence, Stillness and Simplicity". Retreat leader Liz Watson was UK National Coordinator before stepping back from leadership roles to focus on teaching meditation, in the UK and beyond, in person and online, and spiritual direction. She made her career in the public library system and, after a change of direction, studied for an MA in Theology, which has helped her understanding of the Christian mystical tradition.
The cost of attending the retreat is €300 (includes food and accommodation). To reserve a spot, contact Marcella Mc Carthy via email no later than Friday 14 November 2025: marcellacr@icloud.com.
