Luxembourg's Danish Church has announced that its annual Christmas Bazaar will take place on Saturday 23 November 2024 at the Centre Culturel Moutfort in Contern (16 Rue de Medingen, L-5335), from 10:00 to 16:00.

The popular event, which is free to enter, offers the opportunity to celebrate all things Danish including food, treats, as well as Christmas crafts and decorations.

Chronicle.lu recently spoke with Mads Skak Olufsen, Chairman of the Danish Church parish council, as preparations for the Bazaar were underway.

Chronicle.lu: When was the first Danish Bazaar held in Luxembourg?

Mads Skak Olufsen: For around 30 years – we celebrated the Danish Church in Luxembourg's 30th anniversary on 15 September 2024.

Chronicle.lu: When does preparation for the Bazaar begin?

Mads Skak Olufsen: We start the preparations for Bazaar after the summer holidays - although the craft is made all year round.

Chronicle.lu: How many people attended last year and how many are expected at the 2024 Bazaar?

Mads Skak Olufsen: Last year we had approximately 400 visitors. We expect 400-500 this year.

Chronicle.lu: How many volunteers are required for the successful running of the Bazaar?

Mads Skak Olufsen: 50-60.

Chronicle.lu: How many stands/stalls are expected at the 2024 Bazaar and what will they be selling?

Mads Skak Olufsen: There is a raffle for both adults and children. A wide range of handcrafted Advent wreaths, calendar candles, Christmas decorations, second-hand books and other creative handmade crafts [will be available]. Enjoy a unique selection of delicious Danish treats, including glögg, aebleskiver, ris à la mande, and open sandwiches with traditional Danish toppings (smørrebrød).
