The English-Speaking Community of the Parish of Luxembourg Notre Dame (Catholic Church) has announced that it is launching an online consultation.

The initiative is aimed at consulting people about their experience of the Catholic Church and seeking their views on how it should develop. The public is invited to respond (by Wednesday 2 March 2022) to an online consultation available at: www.catholic.lu/synod-2021-2023.

The English-Speaking Catholic Community noted that it was important for the Catholic Church to hear not only from regular churchgoers but also from those who attend occasionally, who care about its role in society without belonging to it or even those who have left it entirely.

The initiative is part of a wider process of consultation being conducted at diocesan and global level leading up to the Synod of Bishops in 2023. The online consultation conducted by the English-speaking Catholic Community will be followed up by discussion groups and a workshop, feeding into the consultation at diocesan and global level.

The Archbishop of Luxembourg, Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich, is the “Relator General” of the global Synod, which means that he will have a key role in drafting its conclusions. According to the English-speaking Catholic Community, it is thus especially important that his local Church in Luxembourg participates actively in this global consultation process.
