Closures along the Bettembourg-Thionville railway brought on by heavy rainfall do not yet appear to have abated, with CFL announcing on Tuesday that it expected the disruption to last at least until late on Thursday.
A temporary bus line between Luxembourg and Thionville, with stops in Bettembourg and Hettange-Grande, was opened from 20:00 on Tuesday evening to replace the trains to Thionville. Train line 20 (Rodange-Esch-sur-Alzette-Luxembourg) started running every 15 minutes from 05:30 on Wednesday morning to reach Luxembourg Gare, with at least one train running every hour per direction between Thionville and Luxembourg from 06:00.
TGVs 2853, 2855 and 2891 are being replaced by buses connecting passengers to the Lorraine TGV station.
CFL stated that it will announce on Thursday when normal traffic circulation is resumed.
The poor weather conditions meant that the volunteer emergency services performed over 250 interventions, primarily related to cellar floods and road clearance issues.
