Luxembourg's Ministry of Education, Children and Youth has presented statistics for the new school year.

Whilst certain private schools, such as the International School of Luxembourg (ISL) and St George's International School, have already resumed classes, the bulk of primary and secondary students will start the 2023/2024 academic year later this week.

According to data presented by the Education Ministry, a total of 60,901 schoolchildren are enrolled in primary schools in Luxembourg (up from 60,077 in 2022/2023), whilst 52,515 secondary students (up from 51,084) are starting the new school year. Within these figures, 5,852 primary pupils (down from 6,049) and 10,020 secondary students (up from 9,805) are attending private schools.

More specifically, the data showed that 1,324 students were enrolled at ISL (down from 1,348) and 838 were enrolled at St George's (down from 862); a total of 5,847 students are attending Luxembourg's European Schools (down from 5,954) in the new school year.

The figures provided could change depending on the arrival or departure of students later in the year.
