The International School of Luxembourg (ISL) has announced the successful start of the new school year as Upper School students returned to school on Monday 28 August, followed by Lower School students on Tuesday 29 August 2023.

This year holds special significance as ISL celebrates its 60th anniversary. The school has prided itself on providing exceptional education to the local and global communities over the past six decades.

The hallmark of this milestone year is the commemorative anniversary book, which will capture the history, achievements and impactful stories that have shaped ISL's journey. According to ISL, the book will serve as a testament to the enduring legacy of the school and its contributions to education.

Throughout the year, ISL has planned various other celebrations to mark this milestone, creating opportunities for students, parents, alumni and staff to come together and honour this journey.

ISL also announced that the Lower School has become an officially authorised Primary Years Programme (PYP) school and has gained a balanced arts programme, encompassing music, theatre and visual arts. Simultaneously, the Upper School is launching new horizons in education by introducing Computer Science and Psychology as part of its IB Diploma Programme subjects. This step aims to empower students to delve into these dynamic fields and equip them with valuable skills for the future. The school is also embarking on a journey to enhance the middle school Design offering, ensuring a well-rounded education that fosters innovation and problem-solving.

As it commences its 60th year, ISL has reaffirmed its commitment to ensure that everyone in its community "becomes inspired, resilient and passionate about achieving what matters, anywhere in the world".
