Luxembourg's Ministry of Education, Children and Youth has announced the introduction of free classes for students having to resit their examinations; registrations are open until 26 July 2020.

In light of the challenges associated with the 2019/20 school year, students will have the opportunity to prepare themselves in the coming weeks for the start of the next school year in September. From 24 August 2020, the Education Ministry will be making thematic files on the main school subjects available to students in both primary and secondary education. This material can be downloaded from www.schouldoheem.lu.

All public school students also have the chance to register for preparatory courses ahead of resits during the last fortnight of the summer break, from 31 August to 11 September 2020. This offer also applies to students in private high schools applying official curricula.

The registration procedures are described below. In case of registration difficulties, the helpline is available until 26 July via tel.: 8002-9090.

Primary education

Remedial classes are being offered to students who attended a class of cycles 2, 3 or cycle 4.1 in 2019/20. These courses cover German, French and mathematics.

At the end of the school year, teachers were given the opportunity to enrol in these courses pupils facing significant gaps. Now and until 26 July inclusive, parents can take the initiative themselves by using the ministry form. Registration can only be done in one branch, so as not to overwhelm the children.

For students in cycles 2.2 and 3.2, lessons will take place from 31 August to 4 September 2020. For students in cycles 2.1 and 3.1, these take place from 7 to 11 September, whilst lessons for cycle 4.1 students take place over two weeks, from 31 August to 11 September 2020.

Students in class 4.2 can register for refresher courses provided for in secondary education, also using this form.

Secondary education

These lessons are aimed at students in grades 7 to 2 (final year). Two types of courses are offered: remedial courses intended for students who have to take a postponement test (German, English, French, mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics); and refresher courses intended for students who wish to fill gaps in their knowledge (German, English, French, mathematics).

Students can register using this form in a maximum of two disciplines.

The courses will take place from 31 August to 11 September 2020 across three regional centres: Lycée Michel Rodange (centre); Lycée Guillaume Kroll (south); and Lycée classique de Diekirch (north).

Registrations are open until 26 July 2020.

Students in public international schools should contact their school secretary directly to find out about and register for remedial courses.
