On Wednesday 4 October 2017, the Ville de Luxembourg inaugurated two "Mobil Bëschklass" wagons/caravans which were installed in Bambësch and in Kockelscheuer for the school year in mid-September.

This initiative is part of the Ville de Luxembourg's desire to develop pedagogy in the forest on the territory of the city, in order to give children the opportunity to spend more time in the countryside.

The "Mobil Bëschklass" wagons/caravans are equipped with basic sanitary facilities, heating, stove, benches and storage space and the objective is to offer classes to shelter in adverse weather conditions and to store necessary equipment for activities.

For many years now, the majority of the pre-school classes of the capital regularly visit the forest to offer children direct contact with nature and the seasons and thus offer a more autonomous learning through direct experience on the ground.

Both trailers will now be used by Cycle 1 school classes at least three times a week, namely two pre-school classes from the Gasperich school in Kockelscheuer, and a pre-school class from the Clausen Central School at Bambësch. In total, 45 children will spend three mornings a week in the forest.

In the context of this pilot project, parents were given the opportunity to choose between enrolling their child in "classical" pre-school or in the "forest" class. Given the mobility of the wagons, these mobile classrooms can be moved at any time and will remain in the long term complementary infrastructures for the needs of the forest class.
