On Wednesday 3 June 2026, Spain's Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, visited Luxembourg for a working visit at the invitation of Luxembourg's Minister for Home Affairs, Léon Gloden.

According to Luxembourg's Ministry of Home Affairs, the two ministers discussed key European challenges related to migration and internal security.

During the meeting, they addressed a number of topics, including the Schengen Area, the implementation of the European Pact on Migration and Asylum, the proposed Return Regulation and the future of the temporary protection regime for displaced persons from Ukraine.

The ministers also exchanged views on efforts to strengthen the fight against organised crime and drug trafficking.

Léon Gloden and Fernando Grande-Marlaska reaffirmed their shared commitment to maintaining close cooperation at the European level in the fields of migration and police cooperation.
