On Wednesday 5 January 2022, three new members of the Luxembourg government were sworn in; Paulette Lenert was also appointed Deputy Prime Minister.

Luxembourg's Prime Minister Xavier Bettel announced on Wednesday morning that His Royal Highness the Grand Duke has accepted the honourable resignation of Dan Kersch, outgoing Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Sport and Minister of Labour, Employment and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Romain Schneider, outgoing Minister of Agriculture, Viticulture and Rural Development and Minister of Social Security, and Pierre Gramegna, outgoing Minister of Finance.

Subsequently, Claude Haagen, Georges Engel and Yuriko Backes were sworn in as new members of the government.

Claude Haagen has been appointed Minister of Agriculture, Viticulture and Rural Development as well as Minister of Social Security.

Georges Engel has been appointed Minister of Sport and Minister of Labour, Employment and the Social and Solidarity Economy.

Yuriko Backes has been appointed Minister of Finance.

Moreover, Paulette Lenert has been appointed Deputy Prime Minister. She will also retain her ministerial portfolios as Minister of Consumer Protection, Minister of Health and Minister Delegate for Social Security.
