Luxembourg's Ministry of State has announced that Taoiseach (Irish prime minister) Micheál Martin will conduct a working visit to Luxembourg on Thursday 24 and Friday 25 July 2025, following Prime Minister Luc Frieden's visit to Dublin in September 2024.
Luxembourg's Prime Minister will host the Taoiseach for a working meeting at Senningen Castle. Discussions will initially focus on the continued strengthening of bilateral relations between Luxembourg and Ireland, which the ministry described as long-standing partners and two important European financial centres. They will also discuss major current European political issues, particularly in view of the Irish Presidency, as well as recent international developments.
The programme will continue with a visit to the Basilica of Saint Willibrord, the crypt in Echternach and the city centre, in the presence of Echternach Mayor Carole Hartmann. During this visit, the two heads of government will have the opportunity to discuss the life and legacy of Saint Willibrord, who connects Ireland and Luxembourg through his personal journey. Discussions will continue in Echternach during an official dinner hosted by Prime Minister Frieden in honour of his Irish counterpart.
A meeting between Micheál Martin and the Irish community residing in the Grand Duchy is also scheduled.
Moreover, the Taoiseach will be received at the European Investment Bank (EIB).
