Luxembourg received 186 applications for asylum in April this year, the largest proportion of which originated from Syrian nationals fleeing the conflict there and who now account for 160 applications received so far this year, almost a fifth of the total.

The number of applications received represents a steep drop against the average for the first three months of the year.

So far this year, 271 applications for international protection have been recognised by the government, while 244 have been refused.
