Luxembourg Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure François Bausch in his joint capacity as co-chair of the Nordstad Political Committee and the municipal authorities of the six municipalities of Nordstad yesterday presented the current infrastructure and mobility projects and future prospects in the field of mobility and urban development.

For years, the Luxembourg government has expressed its determination to promote the Centre for Development and Attraction (CDA) of Nordstad as the country's third multi-functional urban area.

The development of Nordstad involves closer co-operation between the municipalities concerned and the state in order to coordinate the development needs and the resulting forms of land use with the constraints (eg floodplains , and the potential (eg good accessibility by public transport) characterising this space.

It is in this context that the work of the Convention of Territorial Cooperation between the State and Nordstadt, and more specifically the recent update of the urban planning concept for the urban renewal of the Ettelbruck - Erpeldange-sur-Sûre - Diekirch - took place.

In order to achieve concrete results, a design office has been tasked with proposing a global strategy for the implementation of the "Zentrale Achse Nordstad 2.0" master plan, on the one hand, study the possibilities for setting up an operative economic structure in charge of the urban development of the areas concerned, on the other hand.
